Addiction Severity Index
All agencies providing treatment or assessment services must have a minimum of one (1) counselor certified to conduct the Addiction Severity Index (ASI). The 2003-SB123 Assessment requires completion of the psychiatric portion of the ASI as part of the assessment. 2003-SB123 clients must have ASI's completed 30-days into initial entry into treatment (separate from the psychiatric portion in the assessment), upon completion of treatment (discharge) and at six months post-discharge.
ASI Training
To be eligible to conduct substance abuse treatment assessments or/and to provide substance abuse treatment to SB 123 clients, treatment agencies must employ a certified counselor who is also trained in the ASI. The Kansas Department of Corrections does not schedule or facilitate ASI training.
