Mental Health Treatment
The Mental Health Department at Norton Correctional Facility consists of two licensed full-time masters-level therapists, a discharge planner and a mental health records secretary. Inmates on psychotropic medications are seen by a board certified psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner for medication management.
The Mental Health Department provides individual and group therapy for the inmates, as well as answering countless referrals and performing evaluations. We also provide consultation for facility staff, basic and annual training for all facility staff, and monitor the mental health of segregation inmates.
Seven therapy groups are currently offered. These groups are: Anger Management, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Fundamental Lessons in Psychology, Hope, Lifestyle Change, Relationships, and Parenting Group.
