<> 4/11/2011 The KASPER website will now display offenders who are under the supervision of the Kansas Department of Corrections whose convictions occurred in another state. As long as they are living in Kansas and under the Kansas Department of Corrections' supervision, their names will be listed in KASPER. Additional information regarding these offenders may be obtained by contacting the state in which the offender was convicted.
<> 4/19/2010 The dates photos were taken are now displayed under the photos, whenever they are available. The reliability of that information, namely the accuracy of the dates is not guaranteed. If you feel that there might be an error please contact us. Thank you.
<> 12/3/08 Offender pictures have been renamed so that they have a "JPG" extension. This allows users of Internet Explorer 7 (and, to the best of our knowledge, all other browsers) to use "Save Picture As" (by right-clicking on the picture) and to save the picture(s) as JPG's.

<> 1/3/07 An option to receive the offender's data in XML format is now available.
<> 11/27/06 Offender side-view is now displayed, in addition to a front-view picture. The Demographics table is placed closer to the images, to further assist in identification.
<> 11/14/06 The Current Location in the Current Status table for inmate records provides also a link to the facility when the inmate is located.
<> 11/14/06 A link to the Federal Inmate Locator site has been added to the Criminal Justice Links.
<> 11/09/06 There is a new tab for Kansas correctional facilities. Once pressed, a list of facilities opens, which offers contact information and links to the facilities. You can then click on the facility name, and that facility's site will open.
<> 10/16/06 After confirming that you have read the disclaimer, you will not be prompted to do so again, for eight hours. You will be redirected automatically to the main search page.
<> 9/29/06 The search for Parole absconders has been enhanced. Once you click on the Parole Absconders tab, a page opens which offers two control options. First, you may leave the Supervision Location Before Absconding with the default of "ALL" and get a list of all parole absconders, or you can choose a specific location and get a more focused list. The second control option allows you to generate a list with or without thumbnail pictures - just as we do with regular offenders' searches.
<> 9/16/06 An Amber Alert was activated in the morning, and cancelled later in the afternoon. Details are available on the KBI Amber Alert page.
<> 9/12/06 A new search option has been added - Conviction County. Choosing a specific county will narrow down the search to those offenders who satisfy the current choice of criteria (names, gender, race, etc.), as well as, the county of conviction. If no other criteria is selected, and a county is specified, all offenders having that conviction county will be displayed. That feature applied to the Parole Supervision County and to CC Supervision Location in the same way.
<> 9/11/06 The search for Community Corrections (CC) absconders has been enhanced. Once you click on the CC Absconders tab, a page opens which offers two control options. First, you may leave the Location or Administrative Unit as the default of "ALL" and get a list of all CC absconders, or you can choose a location and get a more focused list. The second control option allows you to generate a list with or without thumbnail pictures - just as we do with regular offenders' searches.
<> 9/1/06 We are offering this new release of KASPER, which includes enhancements to the looks and mode of operation of the site. Emphasis is still put on simplicity. The fundamental offender search remains basically unchanged, with certain fields placed on the same line; for example, the name fields (last name, first name). The color scheme and contemporary look and feel are aimed at providing better ergonomics. You will find better placed and easier to use buttons for operations and link. Multiple active pages allow you to navigate more easily, without having to go back and forth.
<>8/29/06 Support pages, such as "help", "news", etc. will remain open until you close them (by clicking "X" or "File and Close"). This way, you can consult with these pages while performing searches.
<> 8/25/06 Once a search yields a list of multiple offenders, you can click on one or more offender records (by clicking on the thumbnail picture or on the offender's name), and the offender's page will open, and stay open; together with the list page. In previous versions you could open only one page at a time. Now, the list, and any number of offender pages will remain open, until you close them by clicking on the "X". This feature enables you to compare records, side by side (you can resize the pages as you see fit), and to easily conduct new searches, still leaving the previously opened records on the screen. You can use the mouse to go from page to page. You can also minimize multiple pages by clicking on the "_". If you keep several pages open, you can use the [Alt]-[Esc] keystroke to navigate from page to page.
<>8/15/06 The Birthdates table now displays the age of the offender, calculated from the corresponding date of birth.
<> 7/17/06 We are now displaying thumbnail pictures on offenders' lists. This enables you to preview the photographs, when available. A red "X" means that a thumbnail picture is unavailable. There will be occasions when a thumbnail is unavailable, yet a full size picture is available. In order to open an individual offender's record you may click on the name (as done before) or on the thumbnail. You may also select to turn this feature off, but clicking on the "No" radio button "Display Thumbnail Photos" on the main search page.
