“Jeremy has served in the capacity of Special Assistant for almost a decade and has an extensive base of knowledge about the internal workings of our agency and is also adept in handling external communications with legislators and stakeholders,” Corrections Secretary Ray Roberts said.

A recent example of his media experience is the escape and subsequent capture of the four county-held KDOC inmates in April, and the creation and hosting of our social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter.

“I’m honored to be chosen for this vital function within our respective public safety agencies,” Jeremy Barclay said.  “Good internal and external communication cannot be overvalued, and I look forward to leading these efforts.  The KDOC is filled with great initiatives and wonderful success stories.  In addition to continuing oversight of research and victim services, I look forward to enhancing our agency’s branding and promoting the message of public safety.  Please contact me at any time with ideas for increased communication methods.”

Media and Kansas Open Records Act (KORA) requests should be directed through Jeremy Barclay, Special Assistant/Communications Director. The Communications Office can be reached at (785) 215-2857 and by e-mail at JeremyB@doc.ks.gov.
