Victim Services Staff Headed to Niagara Falls

October 2011 - Kansas Department of Corrections' Office of Victim Services staff have received two $1,000 professional development scholarships to attend the 2011 Conference & Summit on Victim-Offender Dialogue in Niagara Falls.

The conference, to be held October 24 and 25, is coordinated by the National Association of Victim Service Professionals in Corrections (NAVSPIC).

NAVSPIC is a national non-profit organization that serves as a clearinghouse for information, resources, and referrals; assists in developing, providing, and monitoring training and technical assistance; provides vision, leadership, and guidance in policy and program development to increase victim satisfaction with corrections; and promotes mentoring relationships. Forty-seven states are currently members of the NAVSPIC and were eligible to apply for and receive the scholarship, yet only five scholarships were awarded.
