Authorities Continue Search for Lansing Correctional Facility Escapee

On Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at approximately 3 a.m., staff at the Lansing Correctional Facility confirmed that inmate Gary Leslie Furthmyer  (KDOC# 23753)  escaped from his minimum-custody job assignment at the facility steam plant. 

Gary L. Furthmeyer (DOB:  December 27, 1952) is a 59-year-old, white male with a light complexion and blue eyes weighing approximately 185 pounds. 

Furthmeyer is currently serving a 6- to 25-year sentence due to a 1985 conviction of Indecent Liberties with a Child, and Aggravated Failure to Appear.

All escapees are considered armed and dangerous.  If anyone has information pertaining to the whereabouts of Gary Leslie Furthmyer, please call 911 or the Lansing Correctional Facility at:  913-727-3235.

The escape is currently being investigated.  New information will be released as it becomes available.
