Shannon Meyer Named Warden of Topeka Correctional Facility
Kansas Department of Corrections Secretary Joe Norwood today announced that Shannon Meyer has been named warden of the Topeka Correctional Facility (TCF). Meyer began her corrections career as a corrections counselor I in 2002 at Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF). While at LCF, Meyer worked in the reentry office, in addition to serving as the institutional parole officer. In 2011, Meyer moved to the KDOC's central office, serving as director of community corrections. In 2013, Meyer returned to LCF, serving as the east unit administrator before assuming her current role of LCF deputy warden of programs.
“Shannon’s experience and knowledge of the correctional system will be valuable in her new role," said Secretary Norwood.
Meyer has three children with her husband of ten years, Jason. Though an avid fan of K-State sports and Royals baseball, Meyer states that her children’s sporting events keep her busy and give her the most joy.
Meyer replaces outgoing Warden Hope Cooper, who was recently named the KDOC's deputy secretary of community and field services. Meyer will transition to TCF effective August 14, 2016 while the newly-vacated deputy warden position at LCF will be filled at a later date.
