National Crime Victims' Rights Week to be Observed in Kansas

April 22nd through April 28th will be proclaimed by Governor Sam Brownback as Kansas Crime Victims' Rights Week. This is a special week to honor crime victims and survivors and to thank those who assist victims each and every day.

This year's theme - Extending the Vision: Reaching Every Victim - celebrates the vision behind that progress and the ideal of serving all victims of crime. Kansas continues to make strides in improving its response to crime and efforts continue to shape the future by enforcing victims' rights laws, reaching out to underserved victims and supporting crime victims throughout the state.

In advance of the special week, staff from the Office of Victim Services and Prisoner Review Board attended the 15th Annual Victims' Rights Conference in Topeka, hosted by the offices of Governor Brownback and Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

The Kansas Department of Corrections Office of Victim Services staff offers assistance to victims of offenders in a Kansas correctional facility or on parole/post-release supervision.

If there are questions or concerns, please call the KDOC Office of Victim Services toll-free at 1-866-404-6732.
