Victim Impact: Listen and Learn

Victim Impact: Listen and Learn is a program that provides inmates an opportunity to learn how their behaviors have impacted others. Inmates learn how to define who their victims are, understand the possible impact of nine different crimes and work to comprehend the effects of those crimes on different victims.

This edition of the annual report represents a substantial change in reporting practices by combining two publications - the annual KDOC Statistical Profile and the KDOC Annual Report, resulting in a more comprehensive and more streamlined report. The Kansas Department of Corrections was well represented at the National Corrections Academy/National Institute of Corrections (NIC) Learning Center’s Offender Employment Retention Specialist (OERS) training in Aurora, Colo., January 8 – 13. Four from the KDOC successfully participated: Zachary Burgoon, Topeka Correctional Facility; Eliott Nelson, Kansas City Parole Office/Lansing Correctional Facility; Kelli Martinez, Topeka Parole Office; and Cindy Rowland, Hutchinson Correctional Facility.
