🎓 CELEBRATING SUCCESS AT TCF! 🎓 On Friday, May 22, KDOC celebrated the incredible achievements of 81 students at the Topeka Correctional Facility (TCF). Through our partnership with Smoky Hill Education Service Center, Washburn Tech, and Washburn University, these graduates showed true dedication. Here is what they accomplished:14 High School Diplomas 📜24 Industrial Production Tech Certificates 🛠️9 Business Technology Certificates 💻24 Associate of Liberal Studies Degrees 🎓10 Bachelor of Integrated Studies Degrees 🌟 Historic Milestones: First ever Bachelor’s degrees completed while incarcerated at TCF.31 out of 34 Washburn University students earned academic honors. Amber Bright graduated Magna Cum Laude (GPA 3.70–3.90).Roxanne Dickerman graduated Summa Cum Laude (4.00 GPA) and was a Sibberson Award finalist! 7 Washburn Tech students inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. Film producers from Hawaii recently unveiled their latest award-winning documentary, "Uncle Bully's Surf Skool" at the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex. The film was about surfing instructor, Uncle Bully, who taught homeless children how to surf during COVID. It is a documentary that looks to inspire others to help or become a mentor wherever they can in an effort to build community.

KDOC's contracted Healthcare provider offers free eye exams and free glasses to any of our staff members or visiting family members of residents as an added benefit of their year round service. KDOC is grateful for our partnership with how well Centurion Health looks out for our staff, residents, and their families.

Winfield Correctional Facility unveiled its new 240-bed specialized unit providing geriatric care, a substance abuse treatment program, and a training program open for residents who wish to become certified as a CNA aide to help with care of fellow elderly residents. An Open House was held 2-17-23 and 30 residents will be moved in on a weekly basis beginning 2-28-23 until the unit is full.
