The Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision, required by state and federal laws, is responsible for tracking all supervised offenders coming into and leaving Kansas, parole National Crime Information Center warrant entries and the tracking and extradition of absconders arrested out of state. The number of courtesy supervision cases is virtually an even exchange with other states.

The Interstate Commission oversees the day-to-day oversight of the compact between the states. The Commission promulgates rules to achieve the goals of the compact and ensures an opportunity for input and timely notice to victims and to jurisdictions where defined offenders are authorized to travel or to relocate across state lines.

The Commission also monitors compliance with the rules governing interstate movement of offenders and initiate interventions to address and correct noncompliance and coordinates training and education regarding regulations of interstate movement of offenders for officials involved in such activity.

Horse Adoption At HCF 10 18 2024

Hutchinson Correctional Facility's (HCF) Horse and Burro Program recently held its annual Open House and Competitive Bid Auction Weekend. A total of 18 horses were auctioned off as well as selling 13 untouched horses and 10 burros. The weekend is a culmination of months of basic care for the horses (which are captured in the wild from mostly western and northwestern states) to actual training, under the supervision and guidance of professional trainers, correctional staff, and resident trainers in apprenticeship.

Although Wildhorse adopts all year long both trained and untouched horses. KDOC continuously trains horses year around. As we move into July of each year, we will start holding all of our trained horses for the Open House, allowing those horses to have a lot more training hours on them. This provides an opportunity for those that need a horse more than green broke to bid.

Kansas Corrections Industries and HCF officials are hoping to increase the number of Auction Weekends with one in the spring along with one in the fall.

Holiday Visitation

Inmate visitation at Kansas correctional facilities will be provided on the following four state holidays: Christmas Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Thanksgiving Day. If either Christmas Day or the Fourth of July holiday falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, or other day where a facility has regularly scheduled visitation, the holiday will be incorporated within the regular visitation schedule and an additional visitation day will NOT be scheduled.

Inmate visitation will NOT be provided on the following state holidays, unless the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, or other day where the facility has regularly scheduled visitation: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day and the day after Thanksgiving.
