          The Prisoner Review Board hereby announces the schedule of public comment sessions to be held in June 2026 via Zoom Webinar.   These specific comment sessions are held so that comments can be received from any interested citizens concerning residents who are entitled by law to a parole hearing during the month of July 2026.  The attached list shows the county of convictions, which is not necessarily the resident's home, nor the county to which the resident would return if granted parole. For July hearings If parole is granted, the earliest the resident could be released from incarceration would be in August 2026.  

          Meetings will be conducted on the dates as indicated below:  

          IMPORTANT:  Please follow the prompts within the registration page for confirmation and additional details.  Those wishing to attend the session are asked to join promptly at the beginning of each session.  The session will end after the last participant/s that have joined at the designated start time have spoken to the Board.   

          IMPORTANT: **The upcoming registration for the June 9, 2026 session will close promptly at 12:00 p.m. (CST) on Friday, June 5, 2026.  Those interested in attending, must be registered prior to this time, as requests for late registration will not be permitted.

          The Prisoner Review Board is interested in knowing the view of citizens concerning the possible parole of these residents. Any citizen who would like to express comments on these residents, but is unable to attend one of the Public Comment Sessions, may send a letter to: KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS, PRISONER REVIEW BOARD;  714 SW JACKSON STREET, SUITE 300;  TOPEKA, KS 66603.

          Residents are required by law to receive a hearing when they become parole eligible. Parole eligibility is not necessarily the same as parole suitability. In determining parole suitability, the Parole Board considers the following ten areas: 1) crime; 2) prior criminal history; 3) program participation; 4) disciplinary record; 5) reports of physical/mental examinations; 6) comments received from the victim, the public and criminal justice officials; 7) prison capacity; 8) input from staff where offender is housed; 9) proportionality to sentence guidelines; and 10) risk factors revealed by any risk assessment.

          ]]>           No publisher cherylca 2012-02-29T19:55:00Z Page           Travel Reimbursement Program https://www.doc.ks.gov/victim-services/Reimbursement This program is eligible to registered victims who travel 20 or more total miles to attend a Public Comment Session. As a victim, you are eligible to apply for mileage reimbursement when you attend a Public Comment Session.  To be eligible, you must be registered with the Office of Victim Services (OVS) and have traveled at least 20 miles round trip to attend the session.  The grant is designed to increase the ability of crime victims to participate in Public Comment Sessions by providing participants a single reimbursement of expenses up to $500 which will cover the least expensive mode of travel – vehicle, air, or rail – and one night lodging in a KDOC direct bill hotel if you have traveled 450 miles or more.  You may apply for reimbursement for any one of the three Public Comment Sessions offered that month.  Only mileage distance traveled within Kansas or a bordering state will be covered at the current Kansas Department of Administration Travel Program rate which is $.535 per mile.  The grant allows for one applicant per carload to apply so if you traveled as a group and you drove, please consider submitting an application.  Airfare or rail travel within the continental US will be covered up to the amount of mileage it is in lieu of.

          To apply for funds under this program, please complete the Victim Mileage Reimbursement Request you received in your packet notifying you about the session. You may also request a form at the session and submit the form to the Victim Service liaison present. Reimbursement checks will be mailed approximately one month after the session. 

          The information on the Reimbursement Request form, as with all victim information, is confidential.
