An 8-year veteran with Hutchinson Correctional Facility, Austin Spencer is part of a new breed of Officers who are taking to heart KDOC's vision and mission of changing peoples' lives while treating residents with dignity and respect. Under the leadership of Warden Dan Schnurr, Spencer is passionate about his work and is a great example of how good people can make a difference even in a bad environment.

KDOC's contracted Healthcare provider offers free eye exams and free glasses to any of our staff members or visiting family members of residents as an added benefit of their year round service. KDOC is grateful for our partnership with how well Centurion Health looks out for our staff, residents, and their families.

Winfield Correctional Facility unveiled its new 240-bed specialized unit providing geriatric care, a substance abuse treatment program, and a training program open for residents who wish to become certified as a CNA aide to help with care of fellow elderly residents. An Open House was held 2-17-23 and 30 residents will be moved in on a weekly basis beginning 2-28-23 until the unit is full.
