This afternoon I appeared before the House Public Safety Subcommittee of the House
Appropriations Committee along with the heads of other public safety agencies. We were
asked, in light of the revised revenue projections, to identify how we could reduce the
Department’s FY 2010 budget by an additional 5% ($10,800,000).

Kansas Secretary of Corrections Roger Werholtz today announced the termination of the contract with Behavioral Interventions (BI), Inc. for the operation of Day Reporting Centers (DRCs) located in Topeka and Wichita, effective January 15, 2009.
