Three Confirmed COVID-19 Cases at Lansing Correctional Facility

Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) Secretary Jeff Zmuda announced today that three staff members working at Lansing Correctional Facility(LCF) tested positive for COVID-19. These are the first positive cases within a KDOC facility.

The partnership between the Kansas Department of Corrections and the Kansas Childrens Discovery Center continues to flourish within a couple of our Visitation Rooms. KDOC is slowly integrating the male facilities' Visitation Rooms utilizing KCDC'S Mobile Museum. They recently opened shop for a test run at Hutchinson Correctional Facility. And last month, they made a first time visit to the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex where 5 young dads were able to see and visit their children, three of whom were seeing their newborn child for the first time.
12 LCF Residents Graduate from Aramark In2Work Program

Through Aramark’s In2Work program, 12 more residents at the Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF) have earned the qualifications necessary to help them land a job when they’re released from prison.

Officers from the Hutchinson Correctional Facility (HCF) and the Hutchinson Police Department (HPD) this morning apprehended escapee Steve Genton after a concerned resident contacted police to report a suspicious person matching Genton’s description in the vicinity of 17th Avenue and Waldron Street.

The El Dorado Correctional Facility has been notified by law enforcement officials that inmates Jesse L. Bell, Steven A. Ford, and former employee Amber Goff were apprehended this morning in New Mexico.
