Art Exhibit From Kansas Correctional Facilities Comes To Mulvane Art Museum

Washburn University’s Mulvane Art Museum will host from Jan. 18 to April 1 a display of photos that capture images of life inside Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) facilities.

Capturing the spirit of a transformative program called Reaching Out From Within, the exhibit titled "Faces of Change" features black and white images of correctional facilities and of offenders by photographer Nick Vedros.

The Mulvane Art Museum, 17th Street and Jewell Avenue, will kick off the exhibit with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 18. Vedros and organizers of "Faces of Change" will speak about creating the exhibit and its message. KDOC Secretary Joe Norwood will also speak about the agency’s programs for offenders.

“We’re so excited to host such an impactful and unique exhibit,” said Connie Gibbons, director of the Mulvane Art Museum.

The reception is open to the public and no RSVP is required.
