Families and friends of KDOC residents receive free eye exams and free glasses

TOPEKA, Kansas, August 15, 2022: More than a dozen family members and friends of Kansas Department of Corrections residents were able to get a free eye exam and free glasses inside a mobile van offering free services this past weekend. Centurion Health hosted and provided the basic services via the Envolve Vision Van this weekend as it traveled to three KDOC facilities including Ellsworth, Hutchinson, and KJCC. Following visits with their loved ones, family and friends were welcomed onto the van.

The Vision Van is a program now funded by Centurion Health as part of their view that correctional health care is public health..  The program began in 2015 and has since traveled to more than 30 states. Before stopping through Kansas this past weekend, the van was in Uvalde, Texas helping more than 250 people with free eye exams and free glasses.
