TCF Offsite Visits - Kansas Childrens Discovery Center

19 residents of Topeka Correctional Facility recently enjoyed an offsite visit with their children or grandchildren at the Kansas Childrens Discovery Center in Topeka. The Center is an educational playground for all aged children. TCF has partnered with KCDC as they host these offsite visits 6 times a year for minimum custody level residents who also must pass a Parenting Class.

The Senate Bill 14 Risk Reduction Initiative

This law created a Risk Reduction Initiative that will award funding to community corrections agencies to enhance risk reduction efforts with the goal of decreasing parole and probation revocation rates by 20% (using their FY 2006 revocation rate as a baseline).

πŸŽ“ CELEBRATING SUCCESS AT TCF! πŸŽ“ On Friday, May 22, KDOC celebrated the incredible achievements of 81 students at the Topeka Correctional Facility (TCF). Through our partnership with Smoky Hill Education Service Center, Washburn Tech, and Washburn University, these graduates showed true dedication. Here is what they accomplished:14 High School Diplomas πŸ“œ24 Industrial Production Tech Certificates πŸ› οΈ9 Business Technology Certificates πŸ’»24 Associate of Liberal Studies Degrees πŸŽ“10 Bachelor of Integrated Studies Degrees 🌟 Historic Milestones: First ever Bachelor’s degrees completed while incarcerated at TCF.31 out of 34 Washburn University students earned academic honors. Amber Bright graduated Magna Cum Laude (GPA 3.70–3.90).Roxanne Dickerman graduated Summa Cum Laude (4.00 GPA) and was a Sibberson Award finalist! 7 Washburn Tech students inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.
