_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Community Programs for Juvenile Justice GrantsIn FY2024 the Kansas Department of Corrections announced the release of a grant application to help support communities in providing services to youth. The target population for the grant focused on that are at-risk for juvenile offenders and their families, juveniles experiencing behavioral health crisis and their families and children who have been administered a risk and needs assessment and have been identified as needing services pursuant to K.S.A. 38-2292 (Youth identified as CINC - Child In Need of Care). Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ's Select this link to apply: Community Programs for Juvenile Justice Grant Application_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Juvenile Detention Center Behavioral Health Services FundingIn 2023, the Kansas Legislature passed HB2021 which included provisions for the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) to ensure that while in detention, juveniles receive the following: • A standardized risk and needs assessment within 72 hours of admission. • An updated or completed case plan within 48 hours of assessment completion. • Access to behavioral health services. This funding opportunity is a collaborative effort between KDOC and Juvenile Detention Centers to implement the above provisions focusing specifically on the development or enhancement of behavioral health services available to youth detained in a Juvenile Detention Center (JDC). Funding will serve to support communities to provide services to youth that are at risk for juvenile delinquency, victimization, and juvenile justice system involvement.
