The Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) will move its Topeka-area parole operations to a new office located at 2029 S.W. Western St., Topeka, on May 8.

Phone and e-mail access may be limited as the current Topeka Parole Office, 1430 S.W. Topeka Blvd., is closed and staff relocate to the first floor of the recently remodeled brick building located across the street and west of the Kansas Expocentre.

The KDOC has signed a 15-year lease for the 10,000-square-foot space that accommodates more room for offices, evidence storage and meetings. Aside from a secured reception area and parking lot, the new layout also accommodates improved security measures such as increased natural surveillance and situational awareness.

“This larger office is better suited for staff collaboration and for meeting with offenders," said Hope Cooper, Corrections Deputy Secretary of Community and Field Services. “The new space also responds better to our programming and privacy needs including ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.”
